OUR STRONGEST PROTECTOR
Turmeric is known as a very powerful plant used in the medical, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic fields; in inflammations, skin wounds, and tumors; and in increasing mental functions due to its polyphenolic compounds. The polyphenolic active compound curcumin derives its antioxidant properties from its hydroxyl groups.
Many studies have shown that curcumin has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticarcinogenic, analgesic, and antiemetic effects and functions as a free radical scavenger. A study conducted by Trakya University Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Biochemistry, showed that curcumin has strong anticarcinogenic effects. It was also found that curcumin suppresses the formation of tumors in the breast, lung, esophagus, stomach, intestines, colon, lung, and liver.
A series of clinical studies conducted in Taiwan and India identified improvements in lesions of the bladder, soft palate, stomach, cervix (uterine neck), and skin lesions that turn into cancer. Animal studies showed that turmeric inhibited the metastasis of breast tumors to the lungs and reduced the harmful effects of chemotherapy drugs on malignant cells. Curcumin was observed to cause apoptosis (cell death) in pancreatic tumor cells. Additionally, the anti-inflammatory effects mentioned above were beneficial in disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis and urinary tract infections.
Turmeric is also recommended for MS, Alzheimer’s, dementia, stroke, cirrhosis, hepatitis B and C, high cholesterol, ulcers, cataracts, osteoporosis, liver fibrosis, heart diseases, stomach ulcers, chemotherapy-related infections and toxic effects, rheumatism, pain, inflammation, psoriasis, and allergy due to its anti-allergic properties.
Studies conducted in India on people with cancer have shown that turmeric consumption contributes to the easier destruction of cancer cells and helps prevent recurrence. Research on cancer-preventive properties found that people who consumed turmeric regularly had lower rates of cancer cell formation. Globally, about 5000 scientific studies have been published on turmeric. Curcumin has been shown to provide positive benefits in more than 100 diseases.
